A tandem jump is the easiest way to try skydiving without taking a course: you are attached to an instructor who opens and steers the parachute and handles the landing. However, advertised prices can vary as much as threefold because some cover a jump from 3,000 m without a video, while others cover a package from 4,000 m with a camera operator. We break down the cost based on skydiving centre price lists and voucher offers.

What affects the price of a skydive?

The price of a skydive depends mainly on the altitude, package and skydiving centre. In practice, the main factors are:

  1. Jump altitude. A jump from 4,000 m provides around a minute of freefall, while one from 3,000 m is noticeably shorter. A higher jump requires a longer flight and more fuel, so it costs more.
  2. Video package. The jump on its own is the cheapest option. An instructor-mounted hand camera costs extra, while a separate camera operator who jumps alongside you and films from outside is the most expensive option: a VIP package costs around PLN 1,580.
  3. Skydiving centre and region. Large drop zones near Warsaw or Wrocław offer more dates, but can be more expensive than regional flying clubs.
  4. Date. Weekends during the season fill up fastest. Places are easier to find on weekdays, and some centres offer discounts then.
  5. How you book. A voucher bought through a gift experience website usually costs more than the same jump booked directly with the centre.

How long does a skydive take?

A tandem skydive lasts several minutes in the air: freefall from 4,000 m takes roughly a minute, followed by 5 to 7 minutes beneath the open canopy. The aircraft usually takes 15 minutes or longer to reach jump altitude. You should allow 2 to 3 hours for the entire visit to the centre, or more in bad weather, as jumps are suspended in strong winds, low cloud and rain.

A visit to the centre usually involves the following steps:

  1. Registration, a health declaration and a weigh-in.
  2. Ground training: your position when leaving the aircraft, during freefall and on landing.
  3. Putting on the jumpsuit and harness, followed by an equipment check by the instructor.
  4. The flight to jump altitude.
  5. The jump, parachute deployment and landing at the drop zone.

Who cannot skydive?

Tandem skydiving is generally unavailable to people who exceed the centre’s weight limit and those with serious heart conditions, epilepsy, recent spinal injuries or recent surgery. Centres also do not allow pregnant women or anyone under the influence of alcohol to board the aircraft. Minors may jump only with written parental consent, and each centre sets its own minimum age.

Before the jump, you sign a health declaration. If you have a chronic medical condition, ask your doctor whether skydiving is safe for you. The instructor can assess only what is apparent at the centre.

How much can you weigh for a skydive?

The weight limit for a tandem skydive is around 100 kg at most centres, although some allow slightly more and may charge heavier participants an additional fee. The limit reflects the maximum permitted load of the tandem parachute, which carries the instructor and passenger together with their equipment. Height and body shape also matter: a high body weight combined with a short stature can make it harder to adopt the correct landing position. Before buying a gift voucher, ask the centre about its limit, as participants are weighed during registration.

Tandem skydive, AFF course or another activity: which should you choose?

A tandem jump is the least expensive way to experience skydiving once, but it does not provide any qualifications. Anyone who wants to jump independently needs to take an AFF course, while those seeking an exciting airborne experience without the fall can compare it with a balloon flight or paragliding course. Here is a price comparison based on our index:

Activity Typical price What you get
Tandem skydive PLN 1,000 ‑ 1,150 one jump with an instructor, no qualification
VIP package with a camera operator around PLN 1,580 tandem jump with an externally filmed video
AFF skydiving course around PLN 1,800 training for independent skydiving, jumps charged separately
AFF theory course only around PLN 700 theory, no jumps
Balloon flight 655 ‑ 710 PLN/person around an hour-long group sightseeing flight
Paragliding course, Stage I PLN 2,000 ‑ 2,350 several days of basic training

A calmer gift alternative is hot-air balloon flight: the flight lasts longer but without the adrenaline rush. Meanwhile, paragliding course is the first step towards flying independently, spread over several days.

How many jumps do you need before you can skydive independently?

To skydive independently, you need to complete an AFF course, which usually includes 5 to 10 jumps with instructors, followed by a series of supervised solo jumps before the centre issues your qualification. In our index, an AFF course costs around PLN 1,800 and includes ground training, a handbook and a short session in a wind tunnel. The jumps themselves, equipment and insurance are usually charged separately, so the complete route to independent skydiving costs many times more than a single tandem jump.

Our AFF course data comes from only 2 sources, so treat it as a guide. Before enrolling, ask the centre for a full cost estimate covering the course, each jump, equipment hire and third-party liability insurance.

How much does a skydive cost in Warsaw and other cities?

We do not yet have local median skydiving prices for individual cities because there are few centres and they are usually located outside cities, at flying club airfields. Offers near Warsaw fall within the typical national range of PLN 1,000 ‑ 1,150. Popular drop zones also operate near Wrocław, Kraków, Gliwice, Poznań, Gdańsk, Szczecin and Nowy Targ, as well as on Hel, where you can jump over the sea. A jump over the sea or with a view of the Tatra Mountains may cost more than one over fields near a smaller airfield.

How can you avoid overpaying for a skydive?

  • Buy directly from the centre if you do not need a decorative voucher. Gift experience websites add their own margin.
  • Compare jumps from the same altitude. A jump from 3,000 m and one from 4,000 m are two different services.
  • Ask what the video package includes. An instructor-mounted hand camera and a separate camera operator produce completely different results and come at different prices.
  • Check the voucher’s validity and rescheduling rules. A voucher is usually valid for a year, and jumps are cancelled in bad weather, so flexible booking terms matter.
  • Ask about the weight limit and additional charges before buying, not at the airfield.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a skydive from 4,000 m take?

How many people die while skydiving?

Is a skydive a good gift?

How much does a skydiving video cost?

How much does a skydiver earn?

Wiemy natomiast, ile kosztuje droga do samodzielnych skoków: sam kurs AFF to około PLN 1,800, a każdy kolejny skok jest płatny osobno.
