How service prices are changing
We compare the same item in the same company's price list in successive years, for example, 'Standard Package, PLN per m²' from one renovation company. This is the same principle used for official price indices: rather than combining averages from different companies, we examine how much the price of a specific service has changed.
As at 5 October 2026. Items with price history: 1316. We retrieve past prices from archived versions of company websites in the Internet Archive (each version is linked from the company's profile), and since 30 September 2026 we have also recorded every price-list change detected when refreshing the data.

How we calculate
- An item is one price from one company's price list (page address, service, variant). We use a historical price only if the archived version of the page clearly contains the same item, and we record it with a verbatim quotation; an automated check verifies that the quotation and amount appear in that version of the page.
- Price in a given year is the last known price of an item in that year; for a ‘from-to’ range, it is the midpoint.
- The year-on-year change is the geometric mean of the ‘price in year R / price in year R-1’ ratios for items known in both years (the Jevons method, used in price indices). We also include items whose price did not change. We exclude ratios below 1/3 or above 3, as they almost always indicate a change in the scope of the item rather than its price. We show the result when at least 3 items are available.
- The total change is the compounded result of successive annual changes, only for consecutive years without gaps.
- These are prices stated in price lists, not bills. We collect customers' bills separately via the How much did you pay? form.
