Five sources with varying levels of reliability, deliberately kept separate so that declarations are not mixed with evidence. The price index consists of cited public price lists per unit of service (PLN/month); customer reviews show amounts for entire jobs submitted via the ‘How much did you pay?’ form, with three verification levels (how we verify them); company price lists contain prices entered by the companies themselves. Price index as at: 28 September 2026; customer and company entries are updated continuously.

Private care home: how prices have changed
Year-on-year changes in the prices of the same items in the price lists of the same companies. We obtain historical prices from archived versions of company websites (Internet Archive), each accompanied by a verbatim quotation. How we calculate.

What affects the price
- room standard: shared (from approx. PLN 4800-6600/month) or single (from approx. PLN 8000/month)
- location: prices in Warsaw and Mazowsze can be as much as 30% higher than, for example, in Łódź
- scope of care and rehabilitation included in the price
- whether it is a public facility (DPS) or a private one

At public social welfare homes (DPS), the senior contributes up to 70% of their income, with the municipality (gmina) or family usually covering the remaining costs; private care homes charge according to their own price lists.

Customer entries have three reliability levels: ✓ verified: invoice or receipt (the editorial team has seen a document matching the entry), ✓ verified: declaration (the author confirmed the entry using a link sent by e-mail) and unverified (how we verify entries); we do not verify company price lists. Price lists entered by companies are not included in the median at the top of the page; customer amounts are included only for services priced as a complete service.

How much does a care home cost per month?
A shared room usually costs PLN 4800-6600 per month, while a single room starts at around PLN 8000. Prices are higher in Warsaw and Mazovia than, for example, in Łódź.
Who pays for a senior's stay in a care home?
At a private care home, the family or senior pays according to the facility price list. At a public social welfare home (DPS), the senior contributes up to 70% of their income, with the municipality (gmina) usually covering the remainder.
