Where the prices come from and how we calculate them
We have two types of prices from two different sources. Choose which you would like to read about:
Service prices: from price lists published by the companies themselves
As at 5 October 2026: 1045 services in 28 categories, 5,131 sources.
In brief
- We show declared prices: prices published by companies, facilities and public authorities themselves, as well as amounts from guides. These are not prices from invoices and we do not label them as ‘verified’.
- Each amount is accompanied by the source, a link, the source type and the exact excerpt from the page where the amount appears.
- We use the amounts to calculate the median and the typical range (the middle half of the sources).
- No company pays to be included in the data or for its position. We do not produce rankings or ratings.
1. Selecting services
The index includes services whose prices people in Poland actually search for (queries such as 'how much does ... cost', '... price', '... price list'). We exclude products (phones, cars, currencies) and subscriptions from specific brands.
2. Collecting sources
For each service, we use pages from Google search results for the queries '[service] price list' and 'how much does [service] cost': first company price lists, then facility and chain price lists, official fees, and finally guides quoting specific amounts. We use no more than one page from each domain. We exclude social media, classified advertisements and videos.
We retrieve website content automatically and retain only excerpts containing prices. From each page, we select one price, or range, for the basic service option, expressed in a common unit, such as PLN per m² or PLN per treatment. A language model makes this selection according to fixed, publicly available instructions. Every price therefore undergoes an automated check: the quotation must appear verbatim in the retrieved page content, and the price must appear in that quotation. Sources that fail this check are not published.
We reject amounts from before 2025 (except current official fees), prices for materials or products alone, instalments and subscriptions, as well as units that cannot be fairly converted.
3. How we calculate
- For each source, we take the midpoint of the stated range (e.g. PLN 100-200 gives PLN 150). A source giving only a 'from' price is counted at that amount.
- The median is the middle value among the midpoints from all sources. It is not distorted by a single very cheap or very expensive offer.
- Typical means the range from the 25th to the 75th percentile, containing the middle half of the sources.
- Full range means the lowest and highest amounts given in the sources.
- A source whose central value differs from the median by more than sixfold is marked as ‘outside the median’ and excluded from the statistics (this usually indicates a different scope of service).
- Confidence: high with at least 5 sources, medium with 3-4, low with 2. Pages with fewer than 3 sources are not submitted to search engines. Services with only one source are not published at all.
Source types in the current edition: company price list: 2300, article: 1967, facility price list: 755, official fee: 109.
4. What we do not do
- We do not verify whether companies actually charge the prices in their price lists. We do not claim that verification has taken place when it has not.
- We do not rate contractors or publish reviews or star ratings.
- We do not sell positions in the data. If paid content is introduced in the future, it will be labelled and kept separate from the index.
- We do not help companies coordinate prices: we only show prices they have already published themselves.
5. Prices from customers
Through the “How much did you pay?” form, we collect prices and reviews from genuine jobs: the amount paid for the entire job, a rating from 1 to 5, a description, the date and, optionally, the contractor. We publish each submission immediately, separately from price lists, with one of three reliability levels: unverified, ✓ verified: declaration (the author confirmed the submission using a link sent by e-mail) and ✓ verified: invoice or receipt (the editorial team, assisted by AI, checked the document). On every service page, figures from these levels are shown separately from the index and price lists submitted by companies (in the “Prices by source” section), so that declarations are not mixed with evidence. We do not edit the content, only hiding spam, obvious errors and unlawful content. Details: how we verify submissions.
6. Updates and errors
We update prices periodically. The date on which the sources were retrieved is shown for each service. If you spot an error or an outdated price, or if you own a price list and want it changed, report it. We review every report.
