A corn on a toe or a callus on the heel can make every step painful, and home treatments such as corn plasters and foot files do not always help. The simplest option is then to visit a podiatrist, who will remove the lesion together with its core. We have collected prices from public podiatry clinic price lists and compared them with a complete podiatry treatment and a pedicure, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

Corn and callus removal price list: first and additional lesions

Clinics charge similar prices for corn and callus removal: the first lesion is charged at the full rate, usually PLN 120 ‑ 150, while each additional lesion removed during the same appointment is charged as a lower supplement. If you have several corns, it is therefore better to have them removed together than to attend several appointments.

Podiatry treatment Typical price What it includes
Removal of one corn PLN 120 ‑ 150 corn together with its core
Callus removal usually the same as a corn hardened skin on the heel or ball of the foot
Additional corn during the same appointment considerably less than the first supplement to the first lesion
Basic podiatry treatment PLN 175 ‑ 215 entire feet, nails and hardened skin
Verruca (wart) removal around PLN 190 one lesion, usually treated over several appointments
Medical pedicure around PLN 220 foot care incorporating podiatry procedures

A callus differs from a corn in that it is a flat, diffuse area of thickened skin without a core. It is usually easier to remove, but clinics generally charge a similar price to corn removal.

Corn, callus or verruca: what is the difference and how much does removal cost?

Corns, calluses and verrucas look similar, but they are removed in different ways and at different prices. A corn is a small, hard area of thickened skin with a core extending deep into the skin. It usually develops on or between the toes due to pressure from footwear. A callus is a flat, wider area of hardened skin without a core, most often found on the heel or under the ball of the foot. A podiatrist will usually remove either lesion during one appointment for PLN 120 ‑ 150.

A verruca (viral wart) is different: it is a viral infection that can spread. Small black dots are often visible on its surface, and the lesion hurts when squeezed from the sides rather than only when pressure is applied. Verruca removal by a podiatrist costs around PLN 190 and often requires several appointments. If you are unsure which type of lesion you have, the podiatrist will assess it at the start of the appointment and then quote the price.

How long does corn removal by a podiatrist take?

Corn removal by a podiatrist usually takes between fifteen minutes and around 45 minutes, depending on the depth of the core and the number of lesions. An appointment for a complete podiatry treatment takes longer because it also covers the nails and the entire foot.

Does removing a corn with its core hurt?

Removing a corn with its core by a podiatrist is usually painless because the dead, hardened skin being removed contains no nerves. If the core is very deep, you may feel pressure or a slight burning sensation. Relief is usually immediate because the hard spot that was pressing on the surrounding tissue when you walked is gone.

Can you remove a corn and its core yourself?

Removing a corn and its core yourself with scissors or a razor blade is not a good idea: you could easily cut yourself and infect the wound, while the core is often left behind and the corn returns. Corn plasters containing salicylic acid can soften shallow corns, but they are unsuitable for people with diabetes or poor circulation in their feet. If in doubt, ask a doctor or podiatrist.

Safe steps you can take at home include:

  1. Soaking your feet in warm water for fifteen minutes or so.
  2. Gently rubbing hardened skin with a pumice stone, without cutting it.
  3. Applying a urea cream to hardened skin.
  4. Relieving pressure on the area with a soft plaster or dressing.
  5. Changing to more comfortable footwear.

Can you walk after corn removal?

After a podiatrist removes a corn, you can usually walk normally straight away and return to work the same day. The area may be sensitive for a few days, so the podiatrist will often apply a pressure-relieving dressing and advise you to avoid tight footwear.

Podiatrist, beautician or dermatologist: who should you see about a corn?

For a typical corn or callus, it is best to see a podiatrist, who will remove the lesion together with its core and advise you on preventing it from returning. During a pedicure (median price PLN 135), a beautician can remove shallow areas of hardened skin, but not deep corns.

You should see a doctor if you are unsure whether the lesion is a corn or a verruca, if it bleeds, grows quickly or is very painful, and always if you have diabetes. A private dermatologist appointment usually costs PLN 260 ‑ 285. Recurrent corns on the toes can also be caused by a foot deformity such as a bunion: we discuss treatment prices in the article private bunion surgery.

What affects the price of corn removal?

The price of corn removal depends mainly on the number and depth of the lesions and on the clinic:

  • Number of corns. The first costs the most, while additional corns treated during the same appointment cost considerably less.
  • Core depth. A deep, painful corn requires more work than a shallow one.
  • City and clinic. Prices in large cities are closer to PLN 150, while those in smaller cities are closer to PLN 100.
  • Scope of the appointment. Removing just the corn is cheaper than a podiatry treatments covering the entire feet for around PLN 190.
  • Extras. Clinics usually charge separately for pressure-relief products, insoles and silicone dressings.

We do not yet have local prices for individual cities because too few price lists are broken down by city.

How can you avoid overpaying at a podiatrist?

  • Have all the lesions treated during one appointment. An additional corn costs much less than a separate appointment.
  • Ask whether the consultation is included in the price of treatment carried out on the same day.
  • Compare the price of removing several corns with a complete podiatry treatment. For three or more lesions, the complete treatment may offer better value.
  • Ask about supplements for pressure-relief products and materials before the treatment.
  • Focus on prevention. Regular pedicures and comfortable footwear reduce the risk of recurrence. If you prefer a pedicure with colour, we compare prices in the article gel polish pedicure prices.
