Nose surgery is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures, yet clinic price lists can differ by as much as threefold. This is because the term ‘nose surgery’ may refer to surgery on the tip alone, full rhinoplasty involving reshaping the bone, or nasal septum surgery to improve breathing. We collected prices from public clinic price lists and articles to show how much each procedure costs and what may not be included in the price.

How much does nose surgery cost in Poland?

Nose surgery involving the cartilage, or tip rhinoplasty, most often costs PLN 10,500 in Poland, according to 5 sources collected by indekscen.pl. Half of the prices fall within PLN 8,000 ‑ 18,000, with the least expensive clinics charging from PLN 6,500 and the most expensive up to PLN 20,000. The full range is wide because the price depends on the extent of the surgery, the surgeon’s experience and the clinic’s reputation.

Full rhinoplasty, involving both cartilage and bone, costs around PLN 22,500. It is a longer and more complex procedure: the surgeon changes not only the shape of the tip but also the bridge of the nose, for example by removing a hump or narrowing the nasal bones.

Tip rhinoplasty, full rhinoplasty or septoplasty: price comparison

Private nasal septum surgery is the least expensive, usually costing PLN 6,150 ‑ 7,400, followed by cartilage rhinoplasty at PLN 8,000 ‑ 18,000, while full rhinoplasty is the most expensive at around PLN 22,500. Septoplasty is a functional procedure that improves breathing, while cosmetic rhinoplasty changes the appearance of the nose.

For comparison, upper eyelid surgery, another popular facial plastic surgery procedure, usually costs PLN 4,900. Nose surgery is therefore considerably more expensive: it takes longer, requires general anaesthesia and involves precise work on cartilage and bone.

Can you have nose surgery through the NFZ?

Nose surgery may be available through the NFZ (Polish public health insurance) when medically indicated, for example if a deviated septum makes breathing difficult or the nose has been deformed by an injury. The procedure is usually performed by an ENT surgeon in a hospital. Purely cosmetic surgery is not covered and must be paid for privately, usually at a cost of PLN 8,000 ‑ 18,000.

You need a referral for septoplasty through the NFZ, and waiting times can be long and vary between hospitals. You can check current waiting times at individual facilities using the NFZ treatment waiting times search tool. The same procedure usually costs PLN 6,750 privately. A doctor determines whether there are medical indications.

What does nasal septum surgery involve and how does it differ from cosmetic rhinoplasty?

Nasal septum surgery involves straightening a deviated septum from inside the nose without changing its appearance, and usually costs PLN 6,150 ‑ 7,400 privately. It is often combined with turbinate reduction. Cosmetic rhinoplasty, by contrast, changes the externally visible shape of the nose.

Both procedures can be combined in a single operation if the patient has breathing problems and also wants to change the shape of their nose. In this case, the functional part may be classified differently from the cosmetic part, and the clinic will provide an individual quote. Ask the surgeon how the cost will be divided.

How long do nose surgery and recovery take?

Nose surgery usually takes between one and a half and three hours and is performed under general anaesthesia, followed by an overnight stay at the clinic in most cases. Recovery usually follows this pattern:

  1. The first week. The nose is supported by a dressing or splint, and swelling and bruising appear around the eyes.
  2. After about a week, the doctor removes the dressing, and most people return to office work after one or two weeks.
  3. Several weeks. Physical exertion, sport and wearing glasses that rest on the nose should be avoided.
  4. Several months to over a year. The swelling gradually subsides, and the final shape of the nose is usually visible after about a year.

The operating surgeon will always provide detailed post-operative instructions, as these depend on the extent of the surgery.

What is included in the price of nose surgery, and what costs extra?

The price of nose surgery in a clinic’s price list usually covers the procedure itself, but does not always include all associated costs. Before making a decision, ask whether the price includes:

  • a surgical consultation and an anaesthetic consultation,
  • general anaesthesia and a post-operative stay at the clinic,
  • pre-operative tests, such as a full blood count and blood-clotting tests (we cover blood test prices in the article full blood count with differential: price),
  • dressings, a splint and follow-up appointments after the procedure,
  • possible revision surgery if the result is unsatisfactory.

The difference between a ‘from’ price and the final bill can be considerable. Ask the clinic for a written quote after the consultation.

How much does nose surgery cost in Turkey?

We do not collect prices for nose surgery in Turkey, so we do not compare them with data from Poland. Overseas packages are sometimes advertised as less expensive, but the cost of flights, a hotel during recovery and a possible return trip for a follow-up appointment must be added to the price of the procedure. If complications arise, further treatment after returning home will take place in Poland. In Poland, cartilage rhinoplasty usually costs PLN 8,000 ‑ 18,000, with follow-up appointments available locally.

What affects the price of nose surgery?

The price of nose surgery depends primarily on the extent of the procedure and the clinic. The most important factors are:

  1. Extent of the procedure. Cartilage-only surgery usually costs PLN 8,000 ‑ 18,000, while surgery involving cartilage and bone costs around PLN 22,500.
  2. Primary or revision rhinoplasty. Revising previous surgery is more difficult and more expensive.
  3. Surgeon and clinic. The surgeon’s experience and the clinic’s reputation can increase the price to PLN 20,000.
  4. City. Clinics in large cities are usually more expensive. We do not yet have prices for individual cities.
  5. Anaesthesia and stay. General anaesthesia and an overnight stay at the clinic may be included or charged separately.

How do you choose a clinic and avoid overpaying for nose surgery?

For nose surgery, the least expensive quote is rarely the best choice, but the most expensive one does not guarantee a successful outcome either. A few principles can help you compare offers:

  • Compare complete quotes, not ‘from’ prices. An offer of PLN 6,500 may not include anaesthesia or an overnight stay.
  • Check the surgeon’s specialisation and ask to see before-and-after photos of similar procedures.
  • Ask about the plan if revision surgery is needed and who will pay for it.
  • Ask about instalments. Many clinics offer finance, but check the total cost of borrowing.
  • Book two consultations at different clinics before paying a deposit.

Nose surgery is a medical decision, not merely a financial one. Discuss the indications, risks and contraindications with a surgeon and, if you have breathing problems, also with an ENT specialist.
