Complete blood count with differential: price in 2026, CRP and a basic test package
indekscen.pl editorial team · published 30 September 2026 · prices according to the 5 October 2026 index
A private complete blood count with automated differential most commonly costs PLN 25 in Poland, with a typical range of PLN 23 ‑ 29 and price-list figures from PLN 15 to PLN 50. A complete blood count is often performed together with a CRP test, which costs around PLN 21. With a doctor's referral, both tests are free under the NFZ.
At a glance (as at 5 October 2026)
- A private complete blood count with differential usually costs PLN 23 ‑ 29, with a median price of PLN 25.
- A CRP test, often performed together with a complete blood count, usually costs PLN 20 ‑ 24.
- A private blood group test most commonly costs PLN 45, or around PLN 100 with an identification card.
- A blood beta-hCG test usually costs PLN 60 ‑ 62 at laboratories.
- Having blood collected at the patient's home costs an additional PLN 70 or so, excluding the price of the tests themselves.

A complete blood count is the most commonly ordered blood test and one of the cheapest: at a private laboratory, it costs less than many individual hormone tests. Nevertheless, price lists can be confusing because the same test may be described as “complete”, “with differential”, “with automated differential” or as part of a package with CRP. We clarify these names, present the median from 5 laboratory price lists collected by indekscen.pl and compare it with other basic blood tests commonly included on the same request. Laboratory websites show prices within a single network; we compare medians from multiple sources.
How much does a complete blood count with differential cost?
A private complete blood count with automated differential most commonly costs PLN 25, and half of the collected price-list figures fall within PLN 23 ‑ 29. Prices are lower at large laboratory networks and higher at private clinics, reaching up to PLN 50. Prices also vary between collection points in the same network, so it is worth checking the price at the specific location before your visit. See also full blood count, which includes quotations from price lists.
At Polish laboratories, a “complete blood count” usually means a complete blood count with automated differential, in which an analyser divides white blood cells into five types. A microscopic, or manual, differential examined by a laboratory diagnostician is a separate, more expensive test, usually ordered by a doctor when the automated result needs to be checked. We do not have a separate median for manual differential tests.
What does a complete blood count include?
A complete blood count covers around twenty parameters describing red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. The report contains abbreviations worth knowing:
| Abbreviation | Meaning |
|---|---|
| WBC | white blood cells (leucocytes) |
| RBC | red blood cells (erythrocytes) |
| HGB | haemoglobin |
| HCT | haematocrit, the proportion of blood volume occupied by blood cells |
| MCV | mean red blood cell volume |
| PLT | platelets (thrombocytes) |
| PCT | plateletcrit, the proportion of blood volume occupied by platelets |
| NEUT, LYMPH, MONO, EOS, BASO | types of white blood cells in the differential |
Reference ranges depend on age, sex and the laboratory, and a single parameter outside the reference range does not necessarily indicate an illness. Always discuss the result with a doctor, who will assess it together with your symptoms and other tests. We do not interpret results; we only show what you are paying for.
How much does a complete blood count with CRP cost?
A complete blood count with CRP comprises two separate tests performed on one blood sample: a complete blood count usually costs PLN 25, while the median for CRP, an acute-phase protein, is PLN 21, with a typical range of PLN 20 ‑ 24. Laboratories often sell them together as a package for less than the total price of the individual tests. A CRP test is usually ordered when an infection or inflammation is suspected.
How much does a basic blood test package cost?
A basic blood test package comprises several inexpensive tests performed from one blood collection. Glucose, cholesterol, TSH and CRP are most commonly ordered alongside a complete blood count. These are the median prices for individual tests in our index:
| Service | Median | Typically | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full blood count | PLN 25 | PLN 23 ‑ 29 | 5 |
| CRP test | PLN 21 | PLN 20 ‑ 24 | 3 |
| Fasting glucose test | PLN 14 | PLN 14 ‑ 17 | 3 |
| Cholesterol test | PLN 15 | PLN 14 ‑ 21 | 3 |
| TSH test | PLN 41 | PLN 37 ‑ 41 | 5 |
| Ferritin test | PLN 58 | PLN 51 ‑ 67 | 3 |
| Blood group test | PLN 45 | PLN 40 ‑ 45 | 5 |
| Beta-hCG test (blood pregnancy test) | PLN 61 | PLN 60 ‑ 62 | 3 |

As shown, a complete blood count, glucose, cholesterol and CRP are among the cheapest tests, while TSH and ferritin cost more. When ordering several tests at once, compare two options: a ready-made package from a laboratory network and individual tests. Packages can be cheaper, but sometimes include tests you do not need. Glucose and lipid profile tests require fasting, so it is best to have your blood collected in the morning. Ask your doctor which tests you need in your particular case.
How should I prepare for a complete blood count?
It is best to have a complete blood count in the morning, either while fasting or after a light breakfast, depending on the laboratory’s instructions, and the test takes a few minutes. Preparation is important if glucose or cholesterol tests are included on the same request: these require several hours without food, usually 8 to 14 hours for glucose. It is worth avoiding strenuous exercise and alcohol on the day before the test, as these can affect some results. Complete blood count results are usually ready the same day, often within a few hours, and can be downloaded online.
If you take medication, do not stop taking it before the test without medical advice. Ask the doctor who ordered the tests.
How much does a complete blood count for a child cost?
A complete blood count for a child usually costs the same at a laboratory as it does for an adult, most commonly PLN 25. Some collection points accept young children only at certain times, while some facilities offer home blood collection for children aged 5 and over, with travel costing around PLN 70. Reference ranges for children differ from those for adults and change with age, so the result should be assessed by a paediatrician. The paediatrician will also decide how often the test is needed; a healthy child usually does not need one routinely every few months.
How much does a private blood group test cost?
A private blood group test most commonly costs PLN 45, with a typical range of PLN 40 ‑ 45. The price includes blood collection, ABO and Rh typing, and the result. If you need a blood group identification card, you will pay more, around PLN 100. At some facilities the test also covers immune antibodies, which increases the price, while the highest price in our sources is PLN 120. Details are available at blood group test.
Can I have a complete blood count and blood group test under the NFZ?
A complete blood count is free under the NFZ with a referral from a GP, who can order it as part of primary healthcare. A blood group test is available under the NFZ when a doctor considers it necessary, for example during pregnancy or before a planned procedure. If you want the test “just in case”, you will usually need to pay privately. Ask your doctor about a referral.
How much does a blood beta-hCG test cost?
A blood beta-hCG test, a laboratory pregnancy test, usually costs PLN 60 ‑ 62, with a median price of PLN 61. This is considerably more than a complete blood count, but a blood test measures the hormone concentration instead of merely giving a “yes” or “no” result like a test from a pharmacy. The result is usually ready on the same or next working day. Consult your doctor about interpreting the result and when to have another test. Find out more at beta-hCG test (blood pregnancy test).
How can I pay less for blood tests?
- Check the price at the specific collection point. Within the same network, the price of a complete blood count may vary depending on the city and location.
- Order online. Laboratories often offer lower prices for online purchases and promotions on packages.
- Combine tests in a single blood collection. Some facilities charge a collection fee, so having several tests at once is cheaper than making several visits.
- Ask about a referral. If the test is medically necessary, a GP may order it free of charge.
- Use home blood collection only when necessary. Travel costs an additional PLN 70 or so, which is more than the complete blood count itself.
