Ear piercing may seem like the simplest service offered by a salon, but prices can vary severalfold. The difference comes down to three things: the piercing location, the method used (gun or needle) and the jewellery that remains in the ear. We collected price lists from piercing studios and beauty salons to show how much lobe, cartilage and navel piercings cost, and what you are actually paying for.

How much does an ear piercing cost?

An earlobe piercing with a basic earring most often costs PLN 135 for one ear, according to 4 price lists collected by indekscen.pl, with half falling within the PLN 105 ‑ 200 range. The cheapest salons charge from PLN 65, usually for a gun piercing with a simple earring. The most expensive options, costing up to PLN 600, are needle piercings at a piercing studio with titanium or gold jewellery.

The price includes the piercing itself and basic jewellery. More expensive premium jewellery and any follow-up appointment for complications cost extra.

How much do piercings in different locations cost?

An ear cartilage piercing costs around PLN 145, which is more than a lobe piercing because cartilage is pierced exclusively with a needle and takes longer to heal. Here is a full comparison of the options in the price lists:

Piercing location Cost Notes
Earlobe, one ear PLN 105 ‑ 200 cheapest, gun or needle
Earlobes, both ears around PLN 270 some studios offer a discount for a pair
Cartilage (helix, tragus, conch) around PLN 145 needle only, longer healing time
Navel around PLN 190 only at a piercing studio
Needle with premium jewellery up to PLN 600 implant-grade titanium or gold

We do not yet collect enough separate prices for nose, tongue and intimate piercings, so we do not provide them. Studios usually charge more for these than for an earlobe piercing.

How much do helix and other cartilage piercings cost?

A helix piercing, on the upper rim of the ear, costs around PLN 145, as do tragus and conch piercings. All of these are performed with a needle, and the initial jewellery is usually a flat-back labret, which accommodates swelling better than a standard stud. The price rises if you choose a decorative end with a gemstone or gold jewellery.

Cartilage takes much longer to heal than the earlobe, often between six months and a year, and irritation can more easily cause a bump. It is therefore worth paying a little more for an experienced studio when getting a helix piercing, instead of looking for the cheapest option. Many people have several piercings done during one appointment. Ask about a package price, as the cost of two piercings is rarely a simple sum.

Beauty salon or piercing studio?

A beauty salon or jeweller will usually pierce only the earlobe, most often with a gun, and this is where the lowest prices start from PLN 65. A piercing studio uses a needle for every location, from the lobe to the navel, offers a wider selection of jewellery and usually charges more. For an adult having only an earlobe pierced, either can be a good choice if proper sterile procedures are followed.

It is worth going to a studio for cartilage and navel piercings, and for children’s piercings if you prefer the needle method. Also ask whether the studio’s procedures have been approved by the sanitary inspectorate and whether the piercer will disinfect the skin and mark the location for your approval before the procedure.

How much does a navel piercing cost?

A navel piercing costs around PLN 190 at a piercing studio, including the initial jewellery. The navel is pierced only with a needle, and the initial jewellery is usually a curved titanium barbell. Healing takes a long time, often between six months and a year, because the area is exposed to friction from clothing. Ask whether a later change to shorter jewellery is included in the price, as some studios charge for it separately.

Is it better to have your ears pierced with a needle or a gun?

A gun is cheaper and faster, which is why the lowest prices start from PLN 65. A needle costs more, but piercing studios consider it gentler on the tissue: a sharp needle cuts through the skin instead of crushing it, and the initial jewellery is long enough to accommodate swelling. Most professional studios do not use a gun at all for cartilage piercings.

Both methods are popular for the earlobe. If you choose a gun, check whether the salon uses sterile, disposable cartridges containing the earring. If you choose a needle, ask what the jewellery is made from and whether the needle is disposable.

How much does ear piercing for children cost?

Ear piercing for children usually costs the same as for adults, namely PLN 105 ‑ 200 per ear, but it can be more expensive at some studios. The higher price reflects a longer appointment, calm preparation of the child and often having both ears pierced simultaneously by two people. Studios accept children from different ages. For example, the price lists we reviewed specified minimum ages of 8 and 12, and a parent must always be present and give consent.

Before the appointment, ask which method the salon uses to pierce children’s ears and what metal the jewellery is made from. For young children, it is worth choosing jewellery with a fastening that the child will not lose.

Does ear piercing hurt?

An earlobe piercing hurts briefly, much like an injection, and the procedure itself takes a few seconds. A cartilage piercing is more noticeable, and the ear may hurt for several days, especially when sleeping on that side. Studios do not usually use anaesthetic because administering it by injection would hurt about as much as the piercing itself.

How long does a piercing take to heal and how much does aftercare cost?

An earlobe usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to heal, while cartilage and navel piercings take several months to a year. Aftercare mainly involves saline solution or a piercing spray, which the salon often sells during the appointment. The most important rules are:

  1. Do not remove the jewellery before the piercing has healed, as the channel can close quickly.
  2. Do not twist the jewellery or touch it with dirty hands.
  3. Avoid swimming pools and saunas for the first few weeks.
  4. Seek medical advice if you experience worrying symptoms (increasing pain, pus or fever), rather than consulting only the salon.

How can you avoid overpaying for a piercing?

  • Compare prices including jewellery. A low piercing price may come with expensive compulsory jewellery.
  • Ask about the price for a pair. Some studios offer a discount for two piercings during one appointment.
  • Do not skimp on the material. Cheap metal can cause an allergic reaction, and treating it costs more than better jewellery.
  • Check what the price includes: a follow-up appointment, changing the jewellery after healing and aftercare solution.
