1. A different cable and charger. A damaged cable causes exactly the same symptoms as a faulty port.
2. Shine a torch into the port. Pocket lint compacted at the bottom of the connector is visible to the naked eye.

What should you do if your phone’s USB port is loose?

A loose USB port in a phone is usually simply clogged: dust and lint become compacted at the bottom, preventing the plug from going all the way in. Cleaning is then sufficient, and replacing the port for PLN 220 ‑ 255 is unnecessary. If the plug still moves after cleaning, the springs in the connector are worn and the port needs replacing.

Do not clean the port with a pin, needle or paper clip. Metal can easily short-circuit the contacts or bend the tabs, turning a simple fault into a more expensive repair. Soldering a connector to the mainboard or waiting for a part for a less common model takes longer. Ask the repair shop whether it has the circuit board in stock before leaving your phone.

How can you charge a phone with a broken port?
