Salons often offer packages covering several areas, such as the underarms, bikini area and lower legs, at a lower price than the sum of individual treatments. It is worth asking about them if you are having more than one body area waxed.

What determines the price of waxing?

The price of waxing depends mainly on the size of the area, the client’s gender, the city and the scope of the treatment. The main factors are:

1. Body area. Small areas (underarms, upper lip, classic bikini) cost less than the legs or back.
2. Gender. Men’s hair is usually denser and coarser, so the treatment takes longer and costs more.
3. Bikini coverage. A classic bikini wax costs less than a deep or full bikini wax.
4. City and salon. Chain salons and salons in large cities usually charge more than small studios.
5. Type of wax. Hard wax, used on sensitive areas, can cost more than soft strip wax.

Leg waxing: price

Full-leg waxing costs around PLN 125 according to salon price lists, while waxing only the lower legs is usually cheaper than waxing the full legs. The full legs are one of the larger areas, and the treatment usually takes from 45 minutes to an hour. With regular monthly waxing, a year of leg treatments means around a dozen appointments, so it is particularly worthwhile to check packages or compare the cost with laser hair removal.

Bikini waxing: price

A classic bikini wax covers a small area, so it usually costs PLN 95 ‑ 150, with a median price of PLN 120. A classic bikini wax covers the knicker line, a deep bikini wax covers more, and a full bikini wax (Brazilian) covers the entire intimate area. Each wider scope costs more. Salons usually use hard wax for the bikini area because it causes less irritation to sensitive skin.

Waxing: how long does it last?

Waxing usually lasts from 3 to 6 weeks because the wax removes hair from the root rather than cutting it at skin level like a razor. With regular treatments, the hair grows back finer and more sparsely, so the intervals between appointments become longer over time. The duration of the results also depends on the area: hair grows faster on the face and in the bikini area than on the legs.

With an appointment every 4 to 5 weeks, this amounts to around 10 treatments a year, which for one small area costs around PLN 1,200 annually (typically PLN 950 ‑ 1,500).

Which is better: waxing or laser hair removal?

Waxing costs less per treatment, but laser hair removal provides long-lasting results after a course of treatments, so it is usually cheaper over several years. Waxing has an advantage when the hair is blonde, red or grey, because laser treatment is not very effective on these colours, and when you do not want to invest a larger amount at once. Eyebrow waxing is one method of eyebrow shaping, which usually costs PLN 25 ‑ 40, with a median price of PLN 30. What should you avoid after waxing?

For 24 to 48 hours after waxing, you should avoid sunbathing, saunas, swimming pools and perfumed cosmetics. During this time, the hair follicle openings are exposed, making irritation or inflammation more likely. For the first 24 hours, also avoid tight clothing over the waxed area and strenuous exercise.

After a few days, begin gentle exfoliation once or twice a week to reduce ingrown hairs. If severe redness, spots or pain develops after the treatment, consult your beautician, or see a doctor if the symptoms do not subside.

Waxing at home or at a salon?

Waxing at home costs less per treatment because you only need to buy wax strips or a wax heater, but achieving thorough results is more difficult, especially in the bikini area and underarms.
