You can get a free ADHD assessment through the NFZ. Adults can attend a mental health clinic, and no referral is required to see a psychiatrist. For children, free assessments are provided by child and adolescent psychiatric clinics, while reports for schools are issued by educational psychology counselling centres.

The drawback is the waiting time: an appointment at a public clinic often involves a wait of many months, and not every clinic offers a full assessment process with tests for adults. A psychological report is not the same as a disability certificate, which is issued by a separate assessment panel. If you need a document for a particular institution, ask it what it requires before the assessment, as this will determine whether the cheaper psychological part is sufficient or whether you need a package that includes a psychiatrist.
