Furniture transport with carrying: how much does it cost?

According to price lists, furniture transport with carrying by a team costs around PLN 170 per trip within a city. Carrying matters most with heavy furniture and upper floors: taking a corner sofa to the fourth floor without a lift is hard work for two people, so some companies charge extra for each floor.

Before ordering transport, measure the width of the doors, staircase and corners. If the furniture needs to be dismantled and reassembled on site, add furniture assembly: the median is PLN 125 per item, while assembling a wardrobe costs around PLN 140.

How much does furniture transport cost per kilometre?

For longer journeys, companies usually price furniture transport per kilometre or charge a fixed rate for the trip, but we do not yet have a shared median per-kilometre rate for furniture. Within a city, the fixed rate matters, namely PLN 145 ‑ 220 per trip, whether you travel 3 or 15 km.

For travel between cities, the best reference point is an intercity removal by van with several items of furniture: around PLN 1,350 per job. Transporting a single item over several hundred kilometres will be cheaper if the carrier can add it to a trip they are already making. For long-distance transport, it is therefore worth asking for a flexible date rather than specifying a particular day.

Cheap furniture transport: what is the cheapest way to move furniture?

Cheap furniture transport is mainly about matching the service to the job. The most common ways to reduce the bill are:

1. One item, without carrying: a trip with a driver from PLN 90, if you help with loading yourself.
2. Several items at once: book an hourly team instead of several trips. A vehicle with two people usually costs 150 ‑ 260 PLN/h.
3. Flexible date: it is easier to get a lower price on weekdays and outside the end-of-month period.
4. Dismantling furniture in advance: smaller parts can be loaded faster, reducing the time charged by the company.
5. Van hire: if you have helpers, a large van without a driver costs around 695 PLN/day per day.

Be careful with the cheapest listings from unregistered operators that do not provide invoices: if your furniture is damaged, you may have nobody from whom to claim compensation. Ask whether the carrier has carrier’s liability insurance and whether they protect furniture with film and blankets.

Furniture transport in Warsaw and other cities: price list

We do not yet have local medians for furniture transport alone, but removal prices in different cities provide a good indication of the differences. A vehicle with a team costs around 250 PLN/h per hour in Warsaw, 250 PLN/h in Gdańsk, 215 PLN/h in Poznań and 125 PLN/h in Lublin.

An independent trip with one item costs PLN 145 ‑ 220. If it needs to be assembled, add the assembly cost: the median is PLN 125 per item, while a kitchen cabinet costs around PLN 270.

The price of furniture transport mainly depends on the distance, weight and size of the item, and whether the team carries it into the flat. The difference between the cheapest and most expensive trips in the price lists, from PLN 90 to PLN 250, is due to these factors:

How should you prepare furniture for transport?

Preparing furniture properly reduces the team’s working time, which provides real savings when you are charged by the hour. Empty drawers and cupboards, as they are heavier and more likely to come apart when full. Remove doors, glass shelves and mirrors, and pack them separately. Place screws and fittings in a labelled bag and tape it to the furniture. Take photos of the furniture before loading: if it is damaged, this will make it easier to prove its prior condition.
