An escape room usually costs PLN 200 per game for the whole team on a weekday (typically PLN 180 ‑ 285), as most venues charge per room rather than per person. With four players, this works out at around PLN 50 per person, and with two, around PLN 100. Evenings and weekends cost more, up to PLN 370 per game.

An escape room is one of those activities where the price shown on the website can be misleading: you see the price for the whole room, rather than per person, and cannot tell whether it is expensive or good value. We collected escape room price lists from several cities, calculated the cost per person for different group sizes, and compared escape rooms with other group activities.

How much does an escape room ticket cost?

An escape room ticket usually costs PLN 200 per game for the whole team, according to 5 price lists collected by indekscen.pl. Half of the prices fall within the PLN 180 ‑ 285 range. The cheapest games, usually on weekday mornings or in rooms designed for couples, start at PLN 160, while the most expensive, challenging and elaborate rooms at weekends cost up to PLN 370. An escape room ‘ticket’ is usually a booking for the whole group at a specified time. The price includes a game of a set duration and support from the game master, who provides hints over a speaker or walkie-talkie. You will not pay extra for hints, although some rooms include them when calculating your position in the rankings.

Escape room: cost per person for different group sizes

With four players, an escape room costs around PLN 50 per person if the price is fixed for the whole team. The more people there are, the lower the cost per head, but only up to a point: in an oversized group, some players are left with nothing to do, and some rooms charge extra for additional participants.

The per-person amounts are rounded and assume a fixed price for the whole room. If the price list shows different prices depending on the number of players, divide the relevant amount by the number of people.

How many people can play in an escape room?

An escape room is usually designed for 2 to 6 people, or up to 8 in larger rooms. Three or four people is the ideal group size: everyone has something to do, while the cost per person is already considerably lower than for a couple. For a larger group, such as a corporate event, it is better to book two rooms at the same venue and compare completion times than to squeeze everyone into one.

Before booking, check the venue’s rules for:

1. The minimum and maximum number of players for the room.
2. Whether the price depends on the number of people or is fixed per room.
3. The age of participants. Children usually play with an adult guardian.
4. The cancellation policy and whether a deposit is required.
5. The difficulty and scare level. Horror rooms are not suitable for everyone.

How long does a visit to an escape room take?

A visit to an escape room usually lasts about an hour and a half: around 10 minutes for the introduction, 60 minutes for the game and a few minutes for a photo and discussion of the puzzles. Some rooms offer 75-minute or 90-minute games and cost more, closer to the upper end of the PLN 180 ‑ 285 range. Arrive a few minutes early, as being late usually shortens the game rather than delaying its finish time.

Why does an escape room cost more at weekends?

An escape room costs more at weekends and in the evenings because these are the most popular times, and a room can only accommodate a few teams each day. In the quoted price lists, the cheapest admission applies to weekday mornings, while the same game costs considerably more on a Saturday evening. If possible, book a weekday afternoon session.

Prices also vary between cities, but we do not yet have local medians for escape rooms, so we do not compare cities by price. Our sources include room price lists from Warsaw, Wrocław and Poznań, and their price ranges are similar. The specific room, its difficulty and its set design have a greater effect on the price than the city.

Escape room, paintball or go-karting: which is cheaper for a group?

For a group of four or five, an escape room costs about the same per person as basic paintball admission: around PLN 50, compared with the paintball median of 45 PLN/person. Paintball admission typically costs 33 ‑ 68 PLN/person per person with a basic package of paintballs, while buying additional paintballs increases the bill. Go-karting costs around PLN 57 per person for a single session lasting a few minutes, and a race usually involves several sessions.

Pay attention to the units: the escape room price is for the whole room, paintball is priced per person, and go-karting per session. Compare the cost per person for the entire outing, rather than the listed prices directly. Escape rooms for corporate team-building: how do you calculate the cost?

The cost of an escape room for a corporate team-building event is based on booking several rooms at once: a group of twenty people usually needs four or five games, costing around PLN 1,000 at the median price per room. It is a straightforward team-building activity because the teams play simultaneously and compare their completion times afterwards. Many venues also welcome corporate groups during working hours, when games are cheaper.

When booking for a company, ask about:

• A VAT invoice and whether the listed price is net (excl. VAT) or gross (incl. VAT).
• Booking several rooms for the same time, so that no one has to wait.
• A room for refreshments and a debrief, as this is often charged separately.
• A package with a fastest-time competition or certificates for the winners.

The cost per person is then similar to a private game for four or five people, at around PLN 40 to PLN 50, plus any catering costs.

Escape room birthday parties: how much do they cost?

An escape room birthday party costs the same as a regular game, typically PLN 180 ‑ 285 per room, while some venues offer birthday packages with a separate room for cake at an additional cost. For children, choose a room with a mild theme and check the minimum age. By comparison, children's birthday entertainer usually costs PLN 950 per party, but entertains a larger group of children for two or three hours.

How can you avoid overpaying for an escape room?

• Play on a weekday. Morning and early-afternoon sessions are the cheapest.
• Bring three or four people. The cost per person falls, and the game is more engaging than with only two players.
• Look for vouchers and gift cards. Escape rooms often sell them at a discount when you buy several games.
• Check additional-player charges before booking, rather than at the till.
