Laser engraving price list 2026: wedding rings, glass, wood

Basic laser engraving on a small item, such as an inscription on a wedding ring, pendant or bracelet, most often costs PLN 20 in Poland (typically PLN 18 ‑ 26). The cheapest workshops charge from PLN 12.90, while a more complex design, logo or graphic costs up to PLN 50 or more. For unusual items, some workshops charge by laser operating time, around 4.50 PLN/min.

Engraving is one of those services where prices are difficult to find, as many workshops only state “individual quotation”. We collected public price lists from engraving workshops, jewellers and shops that engrave purchased products, then calculated the median. Below is a comparison of prices for the most popular items and materials, along with the factors that affect the final bill.

How much does laser engraving cost?

Laser engraving a small item most often costs PLN 20 in Poland, and half of the price lists fall within the PLN 18 ‑ 26 range. This is what you can expect to pay for a short inscription on a wedding ring, pendant, bracelet, pen or key ring. The cheapest offers, from PLN 12.90, are usually online shop promotions available when purchasing the item, while the most expensive, up to PLN 50, apply to larger and more complex projects.

Alongside engraving, the table shows services that customers often ask about at the same time: having a wedding ring made smaller by a jeweller, having a stamp made, which is also often produced using a laser, and watch servicing, during which customers may request engraving on the case back.

How much does 1 engraved letter cost?

A single engraved letter rarely has a separate price, as workshops charge a minimum order fee, usually close to the median of PLN 20. This price most often covers a short inscription, such as a name and date, or around 20 to 30 characters. You will therefore pay practically the same for a single initial as for a short text.

The price only increases when:

1. The text is long and requires a smaller font or several lines.
2. The lettering is decorative, handwritten or in another alphabet.
3. A graphic is included: a heart, logo, fingerprint or child’s drawing.
4. The item is round or unusual and has to be secured in a rotary attachment. In this case, some workshops charge per minute of laser operating time, around 4.50 PLN/min.
5. You order an express service, such as engraving for the next day before a wedding.

How much does engraving a wedding ring cost?

Engraving a wedding ring usually costs the same as basic jewellery engraving, or PLN 18 ‑ 26 per item. At the median price, a pair of wedding rings therefore costs around PLN 40 (typically PLN 40 ‑ 50). Prices at the upper end of the range apply to rings engraved on the inside when the band is very narrow, or to designs rather than text alone.

Engraving is sometimes included when buying wedding rings, so it is worth asking before paying. If the rings are made by melting down old jewellery, engraving is usually ordered together with their production. If a wedding ring is too large, having it made smaller by a jeweller usually costs PLN 50 ‑ 175, or around PLN 120 for gold. It is better to have the engraving done after resizing, as soldering may damage the inscription.

How much does engraving in gold cost?

Engraving in gold costs the same as, or only slightly more than, engraving in silver, as the price is determined by the laser work rather than the value of the metal. The price lists collected by indekscen.pl do not include a separate rate for gold: jewellery engraving falls within the PLN 18 ‑ 26 range regardless of fineness. Jewellers who engrave by hand with a burin rather than using a laser may charge more, as this is slower craftwork.

With gold jewellery, who performs the engraving matters more than the price. Ask whether the workshop has a fibre laser designed for precious metals and whether it performs a test on a similar material.

Hand or laser engraving: which should you choose?

Laser engraving is cheaper and faster than hand engraving, which is why it accounts for most prices in the PLN 18 ‑ 26 range. A laser can reproduce any font or graphic, and the inscription remains even on a very small surface. Hand engraving with a burin is deeper and has an artisanal character, but fewer and fewer jewellers offer it, and the price depends on their quotation. A laser is entirely sufficient for inscriptions on wedding rings and gifts.

Engraving on glass, wood and metal: how do the prices differ?

Glass, wood and metal are engraved with different lasers, so workshops often specialise in one material. Metal, including steel, aluminium, gold and silver, is engraved with a fibre laser, while wood, leather, glass and acrylic are engraved with a CO2 laser. A single item usually costs roughly the same, around PLN 20, with differences appearing for larger surfaces and batch orders.

Glassware and bottles are round, so this is where you will most often encounter charges per minute of laser operating time, at around 4.50 PLN/min. Large boards with a graphic or photograph can take over 10 minutes, so their price may be considerably higher than PLN 50.

Pandora engraving: how much does in-store engraving cost?

Engraving at jewellery brand stores such as Pandora is offered when purchasing selected pendants and bracelets, and its price is set by the shop. The public price lists used to calculate our median do not include a current engraving price at this brand’s stores, so we do not provide one. Before buying, ask whether engraving is included in the product price and what the character limit is.

If you already own jewellery from the brand, you can take it to an independent engraving workshop. You will usually pay PLN 18 ‑ 26, but check whether work by an external workshop affects the manufacturer’s warranty.

How can you avoid overpaying for engraving?

• Send the design before your visit. Many workshops can quote for the engraving from a photograph of the item and the text. You can request a visualisation and immediately see whether the text will fit.
• Ask what is included in the price. Design preparation and visualisation may be charged separately, particularly for graphics and photographs.
• Order the whole batch together. For several or a dozen items, the unit price falls because setting up the machine takes the most time.
• Check the font on a sample. A very thin font may be illegible on a narrow wedding ring.
• Allow extra time. Express engraving before a wedding or holiday period costs more.

Engraved plaques and company stamps are often made by the same workshop. A basic stamp usually costs PLN 20 ‑ 40, so when ordering company engraving, it is worth asking about both at the same time. For watches, the case back is usually engraved during a visit to a watchmaker, while a mechanical watch watch servicing (cleaning, adjustment, glass and strap replacement) alone costs around PLN 335 at an independent workshop.
