Below, we convert price-list rates into monthly costs, compare personal training with cheaper forms of exercise and explain how to plan your budget so that you do not give up after a month. The figures are medians from 5 public price lists of trainers and training studios collected by indekscen.pl.
How much does a month with a personal trainer cost?
At the median rate, a month with a personal trainer costs from around PLN 560 for one session a week to around PLN 1,700 for three sessions a week. These amounts are based on the median of PLN 140 for a one-hour session and four weeks per month:
| Number of sessions | Sessions per month | Cost of trainer at median rate |
|---|---|---|
| Once a week | 4 | PLN 560 |
| Twice a week | 8 | PLN 1,100 |
| 3 times a week | 12 | PLN 1,700 |
| 4 times a week | 16 | PLN 2,200 |
You will usually also need gym membership, with a median price of 155 PLN/month per month. If the trainer works in their own studio, admission is usually included in the session price and no membership is required. At a large gym chain, you need a membership and the trainer is covered by a separate agreement.
In practice, monthly prices are lower than simply multiplying the price of one session because trainers sell packages. In the price lists we collected, a package of eight sessions costs considerably less than eight individual sessions. For regular training, always ask about a monthly or quarterly package.
How much does a personal trainer charge for one hour?
The median price of a one-hour individual session with a personal trainer is PLN 140. The lowest rate in our sources is PLN 50, but this usually applies to a trial session. The highest is PLN 200 for a standard session with an experienced trainer. Details and quotations from price lists are available on the personal trainer page.
Factors affecting the rate:
- The trainer’s experience and specialisation. A trainer with certificates in exercise rehabilitation, strength and conditioning or working with pregnant women charges more.
- City and training venue. A small studio in the centre of a large city is more expensive than a trainer at a neighbourhood gym.
- Package or individual session. An individual session has the highest hourly cost.
- Session length. The standard is 60 minutes; 45-minute sessions can be cheaper.
- What the price includes. A training plan for days without the trainer, body composition measurements and nutrition consultations may be included or charged separately.
How much does a personal trainer at a gym cost?
A personal trainer at a gym costs the same as one at a studio, with a median price of PLN 140 per hour, but you also pay for gym membership. In one gym chain’s price list, an hour with a trainer at the gym costs 135 PLN/h, while a single gym admission without a trainer costs around PLN 33.
With two sessions a week, the monthly cost at a gym is therefore the sum of two items: around PLN 1,100 for the trainer and around 155 PLN/month for membership. If you want to exercise on your own between sessions with the trainer, the membership will still be useful.
| Service | Median | Typically | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal trainer | PLN 140 | PLN 140 | 5 |
| Gym membership | 155 PLN/month | 140 ‑ 180 PLN/month | 4 |
| Yoga classes | PLN 65 | PLN 58 ‑ 80 | 3 |
| Dietitian appointment | PLN 215 | PLN 205 ‑ 275 | 7 |
| Physiotherapist appointment | PLN 180 | PLN 160 ‑ 200 | 98 |

How many times a week should you train with a personal trainer?
The most common choice is two sessions with a trainer per week, which costs around PLN 1,100 per month at the median rate. This is enough to learn proper technique and exercise regularly, while the cost is half that of three sessions a week (PLN 1,700).
A sensible approach for most people:
- First 1 to 2 months: 2 or 3 sessions a week to learn proper technique and establish a plan.
- Afterwards: 1 session with a trainer per week, costing around PLN 560 per month, and 1 to 2 independent workouts following the plan.
- Every few weeks: review your progress and adjust the plan.
If you have injuries or back pain, or have undergone surgery, speak to a doctor or physiotherapist first. The median cost of a physiotherapy appointment is PLN 180. This is a different service from personal training, although some trainers work with physiotherapy practices.
Is a 30-minute workout worthwhile?
A 30-minute workout is worthwhile if it is intensive and regular. It can also let you meet with a trainer more often for a similar amount of money. Some studios offer shorter sessions for less than a one-hour session (PLN 140), but not every trainer lists them in their price list, and the rate for 30 minutes is not usually half the hourly rate.
A shorter workout is suitable for general fitness goals and people with inflexible schedules. When learning heavy strength exercises, where the warm-up and practising proper technique take considerable time, a full hour offers more.
A personal trainer or cheaper forms of exercise?
Personal training is the most expensive form of regular exercise, but it is the only one where someone monitors the technique of every repetition. Here is a comparison of monthly costs for two sessions a week:
| Form of exercise | Price per session | Month (8 sessions) |
|---|---|---|
| Personal trainer | PLN 140 per hour | PLN 1,100 |
| Yoga class (single admission) | PLN 65 | PLN 520 |
| Gym membership, without a trainer | 155 PLN/month | 155 PLN/month |
Yoga and group classes cost a fraction of personal training, while gym membership costs even less. A sensible compromise is to have a few sessions with a trainer at the beginning, then exercise independently according to a plan and book a review session every few weeks. You can find more information about classes on the yoga classes page.
What else should you include in your monthly budget?
A monthly training budget rarely consists solely of the trainer’s fee. In addition to the sessions (PLN 1,100 for two sessions a week), consider the following:
- Gym membership: a median of 155 PLN/month per month if the trainer does not have their own studio.
- Dietitian consultation: an initial appointment with a dietitian has a median price of PLN 215, and a meal plan may be charged separately.
- Recovery: a relaxation massage has a median price of 220 PLN/60 min, while physiotherapy costs PLN 180 per appointment. These are not essential, but some people use them when training intensively.
- Clothing and shoes: a one-off expense, with no need to buy costly equipment at the outset.
How can you avoid overpaying for a personal trainer?
- Start with a trial session, which may be cheaper, from PLN 50. This will help you decide whether the trainer’s approach suits you.
- Buy packages only after a trial, but avoid individual sessions in the long term.
- Ask about the cancellation policy: according to many price lists, you lose a session if you cancel too late.
- Check what is included: a plan for independent training days, measurements and nutrition consultations. An appointment with a dietitian appointment has a median price of PLN 215, so a diet plan included in the trainer’s package may offer real value.
- Compare venues: a studio with admission included may cost less than a cheaper trainer plus gym membership.
