7m3 rubble skip: how much does it cost?
A 7 m³ rubble skip costs more than a 5 m³ skip, whose median price is PLN 800, but we do not yet have a separate median for 7 m³ skips. Companies price 7 m³ and larger skips mainly by weight because rubble is heavy and hook-lift lorries have limited load capacity. Ask not only about the price, but also about the permitted weight and the surcharge for exceeding it.
How much rubble fits in a 7m3 skip?
A 7 m³ skip can hold 7 m³ of rubble by volume, but its weight often means that it cannot be filled completely. A cubic metre of concrete or brick rubble usually weighs from 1.5 to 2 tonnes, so a full 7 m³ skip would weigh more than 10 tonnes. Many companies therefore recommend 7 m³ skips for lighter waste, and smaller containers or filling only to a specified height for heavy rubble.
What to consider when loading:
- Do not load above the edge of the skip. The driver will not collect an overfilled skip.
- Distribute heavy rubble evenly so that the skip can be lifted safely.
- Do not mix rubble with other waste, as the company will recalculate the price at the mixed-waste rate.
- Check the weight limit in the contract, especially for concrete and bricks.
What can be put in a rubble skip?
A clean rubble skip can be used for concrete, bricks, hollow blocks, ceramic roof tiles, wall and floor tiles, and stone, meaning mineral waste from demolition and renovation. Clean rubble is the cheapest to dispose of because it can be crushed and reused, for example in road construction.
What not to put in a rubble skip:
- wood, panels, doors and door frames,
- plastic, sheeting, polystyrene and mineral wool,
- roofing felt, asbestos cement and other asbestos-containing waste (a specialist company is required),
- plasterboard, if the company does not accept it with rubble,
- tins containing paint, adhesives or solvents.
If a renovation produces a lot of mixed waste, it is better to order a mixed-waste skip or two separate containers from the outset. Putting wood or sheeting in a clean rubble skip usually results in an additional sorting charge.
How much does a skip cost for a typical renovation?
For a bathroom renovation involving tile replacement, a big bag or small skip costing around PLN 240 is usually sufficient. A full flat renovation involving the demolition of partition walls requires a skip of around 5 m³, typically PLN 675 ‑ 890. Demolishing or building a house requires skips with a capacity of over a dozen cubic metres, with each collection costing up to PLN 2,600, often several times during the work.
What is the cheapest way to dispose of rubble?
The cheapest way to dispose of a small amount of rubble is in a big bag, with collection costing from PLN 200, or to take it yourself by trailer or hired van to a selective waste collection point (PSZOK). Many municipalities (gminas) accept a limited amount of renovation rubble from residents at PSZOK sites without an additional charge, but each municipality sets its own limits and rules.
Comparison of the options:
- Big bag. The cheapest option for a minor renovation. It can be placed on the pavement or on private property and does not always require permission to occupy the road area.
- 5 m³ skip. Typically PLN 675 ‑ 890. The most convenient option for renovating an entire flat.
- Collection with loading. The company arrives and loads the rubble itself. This costs more because you pay for the physical labour, but you do not have to carry bags down the stairs.
- Your own transport to a PSZOK site. The cheapest option if you have a trailer, the rubble is clean and the municipality accepts it free of charge.
What is the penalty for placing a rubble skip without permission?
A penalty may be imposed for placing a skip on a public road, pavement or parking space without permission from the road authority to occupy the road area. If the road area is occupied without permission, the authority charges a penalty equal to ten times the fee that would have applied with permission. Rates are set by the road authority in each city.
A skip placed on your own property, driveway or building site does not require this permission. If you live in a block of flats, ask the owners’ association or housing cooperative manager where the skip may be placed. Many companies help obtain permission, but ask whether the fee is included in the price. Contact your local road authority about the regulations in your city.
What determines the price of a skip in Warsaw, Poznań and other cities?
The price of a rubble skip in Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław or Szczecin depends mainly on the delivery zone, meaning the distance from the company’s depot, and disposal prices at the local facility. We do not yet have local medians for individual cities, so compare offers with the national range of PLN 675 ‑ 890 for a 5 m³ skip.
Before ordering, ask every company the same questions:
- how many days’ hire are included in the price and how much an additional day costs,
- what the weight limit is and how much it costs to exceed it,
- whether the price includes disposal and VAT,
- what happens if other types of waste are mixed in,
- whether the company will help obtain permission to occupy the road area.
If the rubble is produced during a larger renovation, we describe the total project costs in the article how much does it cost to renovate a flat. When replacing windows, the installation team usually removes the rubble, as explained in replacing windows in a block of flats.
