A cracked denture is a problem that usually occurs without warning: it slips out of your hand while being cleaned or cracks while you are biting. The good news is that most cracks can be repaired quickly and inexpensively. Below, we compile prices from public price lists published by dental surgeries and laboratories, compare repairs with new dentures and explain what determines the bill.
How much does it cost to repair a cracked denture?
Repairing a cracked denture most often costs PLN 200, according to 5 price lists collected by indekscen.pl, and half of the prices fall within the range of PLN 130 ‑ 200. The cheapest offer in our sources is PLN 120 for repairing a broken denture, while the most expensive is PLN 450. Outpatient clinics and dental laboratories are sometimes cheaper, while private clinics charge more.
The price-list rate usually covers a basic repair, meaning the bonding of a single crack in the denture base. Details of the pricing and quotations from price lists are available at denture repair (bonding).
| Service | Median | Typically | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Denture repair (bonding) | PLN 200 | PLN 130 ‑ 200 | 5 |
| Denture | PLN 2,200 | PLN 2,000 ‑ 3,000 | 5 |
| Dental check-up | PLN 215 | PLN 175 ‑ 245 | 4 |

What increases the cost of denture repair?
The cost of denture repair rises with the number of damaged areas and the type of material. Price lists charge separately for each repair point, so a denture cracked in two places with a broken-off tooth costs more to repair than a single clean crack.
Factors that affect the bill:
- Number of areas being repaired. An additional repair point usually incurs a surcharge on top of the basic price.
- Adding a tooth or clasp. This is a separate, more expensive price-list item than bonding alone. It may be necessary when a denture tooth has fallen out or when a natural tooth supporting the denture has had to be removed.
- Type of denture. Acetal and copolymer (flexible) dentures require a different repair technique from acrylic ones, and some laboratories do not repair them at all.
- Impression. If the parts do not fit together perfectly or a tooth needs to be added, the dentist takes an impression. In one price list, repairing one point with an impression costs PLN 200.
- Express service. Laboratories that repair dentures within a few hours, at weekends or on public holidays often add an urgent-service fee.
- Place. A dental laboratory can be cheaper than a dental surgery, which commissions the repair from a technician and adds its own margin.
How long does repairing a cracked denture take?
Repairing a cracked denture usually takes from a few hours to one working day when it involves simply bonding the denture base. The laboratory bonds the parts, fills the crack with acrylic that must set, and then grinds and polishes the repaired area.
Repairs involving an impression, adding a tooth or clasp, and repairing a cast metal denture with a broken metal component take longer, from two to several days. Many laboratories advertise repairs ‘while you wait’ or within 24 hours, which is important for people who cannot eat or speak normally without their denture. Ask about the completion time before leaving the denture and whether express service costs extra.
Repair or a new denture: which is more worthwhile?
Repairing a denture is almost always worthwhile when it is in good condition and fits properly, because it costs a fraction of the price of a new one. A new full acrylic denture for one arch has a median price of PLN 2,200 (typically PLN 2,000 ‑ 3,000), while a cast metal denture costs around PLN 3,500. A repair usually costs PLN 200.
| Option | Typical price | When it makes sense |
|---|---|---|
| Crack repair | PLN 130 ‑ 200 | the denture fits properly and this is the first crack |
| New acrylic denture (1 arch) | PLN 2,000 ‑ 3,000 | the denture is old, loose or has cracked again |
| Cast metal denture | around PLN 3,500 | some teeth are missing and natural teeth can provide support |
| Implant (implant fixture only) | PLN 3,000 ‑ 3,500 | stabilising a denture or replacing individual teeth |
A new denture is a better investment if the denture repeatedly cracks in the same place, is many years old and has discoloured, porous acrylic, or is clearly loose. The gum and bone beneath a denture change over time, so an old denture stops fitting properly, flexes when you bite and cracks from material fatigue. In that case, repairing it alone does not address the cause. It is worth making the decision together with a dentist; a check-up usually costs PLN 175 ‑ 245.

Can a denture be repaired through the NFZ?
Denture repair through the NFZ is available at surgeries that have an NFZ contract for prosthodontic treatment. NFZ prosthodontic benefits for adults are limited and cover acrylic dentures, while waiting times at participating surgeries can be long. It is best to ask a contracted clinic directly whether it provides repairs and how long the wait is.
In practice, many people choose a paid repair because a dental laboratory can return the denture on the same day or the following day for PLN 130 ‑ 200. Cast metal and flexible dentures are paid for privately, as are their repairs.
Can you glue a denture yourself?
You should not glue a denture yourself using ordinary shop-bought adhesive. Instant adhesives and plastic glues are not intended for contact with the mouth, may irritate the lining of the mouth, and a crack bonded at home is almost never aligned perfectly. A denture repaired this way fits poorly, causes discomfort and puts pressure on the gum.
There is another problem: adhesive residue makes it harder for the technician to carry out a proper repair. Instead of saving money, you may pay more because the laboratory first has to clean the fractured surfaces, and sometimes the denture can then only be replaced. Denture adhesives sold at pharmacies are designed to secure the entire denture in the mouth, not to bond cracks.
How can you repair a cracked denture without overpaying?
It is best to take a cracked denture to a dental laboratory or a surgery that accepts repairs, together with all the broken-off pieces. Here is how to prepare for the repair:
- Collect all the parts and do not try to force them together, as this could chip the edges.
- Do not glue anything yourself. Clean fractured surfaces make the repair easier and cheaper.
- Call two or three laboratories and ask about the price of a basic repair, the surcharge for each additional repair point and the waiting time. Prices in our sources range from PLN 120 to PLN 450.
- Ask about relining. If the denture was loose, repairing it alone may not be enough and the crack may recur.
- Ask for the denture to be assessed. The technician will tell you whether the acrylic is still in good condition and whether a repair is worthwhile.
Why does a denture crack and how can you prevent it?
Dentures crack most often for two reasons: being dropped and fitting poorly. Acrylic is hard but brittle, so dropping a denture onto bathroom tiles can easily crack the base. The second cause is less obvious: as the gum recedes over time, the denture is no longer supported evenly and flexes along the middle when you bite. After months of this flexing, a crack develops, usually in an upper denture between the front teeth.
To help your denture last longer:
- clean it over a sink filled with water or over a towel, so it will not crack if dropped;
- do not bite very hard foods with the front teeth of the denture;
- do not put the denture in hot water, as the acrylic may become distorted;
- show the denture to your dentist once a year so they can assess whether it needs relining.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to repair a broken denture?
Naprawa złamanej protezy, czyli sklejenie jednego pęknięcia, kosztuje zwykle PLN 130 ‑ 200. Każdy kolejny punkt naprawy, dostawienie zęba albo klamry to dopłata.
Why does a denture crack?
Can you wear a cracked denture until it is repaired?
Lepiej nie. Ostre krawędzie mogą ranić dziąsło i język, a pęknięcie przy gryzieniu się powiększa i naprawa, dziś za około PLN 200, może stać się niemożliwa. Schowaj obie części w pudełku i zanieś je do pracowni.
Can an old denture be repaired?
How much does a dental appointment before a denture repair cost?
