Median and typical range from public price lists, as at 5 October 2026. Each price includes a source and quotation on the service page.

Rates vary between price lists because studios define the scope differently. In the price lists of the cheapest studios, interior design is usually a concept with a floor plan and several visualisations, typically 170 ‑ 180 PLN/m². For an interior architect providing a technical design, interior design has a median price of 180 PLN/m², while a full package typically costs 175 ‑ 315 PLN/m².

How much does it cost to design a 50 m² or 100 m² flat?

At the median rate, designing a 50 m² flat costs around PLN 10,000 (typically PLN 8,300 ‑ 15,000), while a 100 m² flat costs around PLN 20,000 (typically PLN 17,000 ‑ 30,000). Small flats often have a higher rate per m² because the kitchen and bathroom require the same amount of work regardless of the total floor area.

Floor area Design cost at the median rate Typical range
30 m² studio flat PLN 6,000 PLN 5,000 ‑ 9,000
50 m² flat PLN 10,000 PLN 8,300 ‑ 15,000
70 m² flat PLN 14,000 PLN 12,000 ‑ 21,000
100 m² flat PLN 20,000 PLN 17,000 ‑ 30,000
150 m² house PLN 30,000 PLN 25,000 ‑ 45,000

For comparison, a comprehensive flat renovation including materials has a median price of 2,300 PLN/m², or around PLN 115,000 for 50 m². The design therefore accounts for only a small part of the total finishing budget, while a well-prepared design helps prevent costly corrections during the work.

How much does a designer charge for a bathroom design?

According to price lists, bathroom design from a designer most often costs PLN 525, typically PLN 175 ‑ 990. The full range is wide because the same name covers very different services:

  1. A design from a DIY retailer, from around PLN 99, usually discounted when you purchase the tiles and bathroom fittings specified in the design.
  2. A budget design for a small bathroom (around 5 m²) from a designer, around PLN 400.
  3. A design with 3D visualisations and material selection, closer to the upper end of the range.
  4. A bespoke design for a large bathroom (from 10 m²) with documentation for the contractors, around PLN 1,500.

In turn, kitchen design most often costs PLN 1,700 (typically PLN 1,400 ‑ 2,200), or around PLN 4,000 with design supervision during installation. Many joinery companies deduct the cost of the design from the fitted furniture price if you order the units from them. Read more about the furniture itself in the article how much does a made-to-measure kitchen cost.

How much does an interior designer’s consultation cost?

According to the sources, a one-off design consultation without a full design costs around PLN 400. This is a good option if you already have an idea for your flat and only need someone to check the kitchen layout, help select colours or advise where to move a wall. A fixed-price basic package from an interior architect costs around PLN 600. Some studios also charge for consultations and supervision by the hour.

What does an interior design include, and what costs extra?

A standard interior design package usually includes a site survey, two or three functional layout options, visualisations of the key rooms and a list of materials to purchase. A technical design adds drawings for the contractors: the positions of sockets and lighting points, as well as drawings for tiles, fitted units and ceilings.

The following are most often charged separately:

  • design supervision on site, charged per visit or per hour,
  • trips with the client to tile and furniture showrooms,
  • additional visualisations and revisions beyond the number specified in the contract,
  • the cost of materials and labour, which is a separate budget item.

Before signing the contract, check how many rounds of revisions are included in the price and whether you will receive the drawing files so that you can pass them to any contractor.

Is hiring an interior designer worthwhile?

An interior designer is most worthwhile for a comprehensive renovation, changes to the wall layout and small flats where every centimetre matters. With a renovation budget of around PLN 115,000 for 50 m², a design costing around PLN 10,000 can more than pay for itself if it prevents even one mistake, such as a poorly positioned electrical point or a kitchen that needs to be altered. A consultation is usually enough when refreshing a single room.

What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior architect?

An interior architect usually has a relevant degree in interior architecture, while an interior designer may have completed courses or postgraduate studies. Neither title confers building qualifications, so changes to load-bearing walls also require a suitably qualified structural engineer. There is no clear-cut difference in prices: the rate is determined more by the scope of the design, the portfolio and the city than by the title itself.

Is online interior design cheaper?

Online interior design can be cheaper because there is no travel for the site survey or meetings, and you take the measurements yourself using the studio’s instructions. In price lists, however, online design falls within the same range as in-person design, 170 ‑ 180 PLN/m², because the amount of work involved in preparing the drawings is similar. You mainly save time and can choose a studio from another city.

How much does interior design cost in Warsaw and smaller cities?

Interior design in Warsaw and Kraków is usually more expensive than in smaller cities, and studios in large cities are more likely to fall within the upper part of the 165 ‑ 300 PLN/m² range. We do not yet publish separate medians for individual cities because there are too few local price lists for a reliable comparison. The difference can, however, be seen in flat prices themselves: a square metre in Warsaw costs PLN 15,646/m², compared with a national average of PLN 9,270/m², so the design accounts for an even smaller share of the total investment when the flat is more expensive.

How do you choose an interior designer without overpaying?

The lowest rate per m² does not always mean the cheapest design, as differences in scope may be greater than differences in price. Before choosing a studio, compare offers using the same criteria:

  1. Scope of documentation. A concept with visualisations only, or a full technical design with drawings for the electrician, plumber and joiner.
  2. Number of visualisations and rounds of revisions. Additional revisions may be charged separately.
  3. Design supervision. Whether it is included in the price, how many visits it covers and how much each additional visit costs.
  4. Shopping list. Whether you will receive specific products with links and cheaper alternatives.
  5. Portfolio and availability. Look at completed flats, not only visualisations, and ask when the studio can start.

It is also good practice to tell the designer your renovation budget from the outset. A design that cannot be completed within your budget means paying twice.
