- type and width of flashing: wider elements (barge flashing, wall flashing, ridge flashing) use more sheet metal than narrow eaves or gutter flashing strips
- sheet metal material: galvanised steel is the cheapest, while titanium-zinc and copper are considerably more expensive
- access to the roof and number of corners
- complexity, e.g. chimney flashing can be considerably more expensive than simple elements
